Googles 7 pack is one of the best places to get a local business on the first page of Google for their category. Most business owners over look this simple page that can drive a large amount of traffic back to their business. I'm going to give some tips on setting up a Google + page to rank in Googles 7 pack.

First to make sure that page the business is under has the right categories and the keywords are in the description. Some times you can get away with putting your main keyword phrase in the title but usually this is just the companies name and possibly their slogan.

Second is to upload some pictures to the page but make sure all the properties on the picture have your keywords in the title and description of the picture. The keyword phrase should also be the file of the picture. This is all done while on your computer before you upload the pictures. If your not sure how to do that then simply right click the image and then click on properties. From there you can add a title, description and star rating.

Third you want to make sure the NAP is right. The stands for Name Address Phone. This has to be the same on your website and any other directories you submit to. Google searches for this in its algorithm and if the businesses NAP is different in other directories it will have an affect on your rankings in the 7 pack.

Fourth tip is to suit you business to as many directories that you can. Yext is a great survive that does all the submission for you but it cost $499.00 for the year. Personally it's worth it because some of these directories you cannot change or submit to unless you have a Yext account. But if you want you can always submit the businesses NAP to the main directories like yellow pages, super pages, white pages, etc.

Final tip. After you submit your NAP to the directories you will have a link with the business name. Simply run these through a index survice or website like Ping Farm to build some juice to the links. Then bookmark all the directory links. Finally ping all the links to let the search engines know that there was a change and crawl the website. Comment below and let me know if you have used a strategy like this or if you would like too

Great tips Lance. I think Pinging your sites does not get enough attention these days. It used to be one of the top ten criteria for getting rank, but you hardly see it mentioned anymore.

I index every link. It doesn't hurt and gives the link a little link juice. Pinging works really good for getting videos ranked. You have to let the search engines bots there is new content or else wait till they decide to crawl the website

Great stuff Lance. You're right that many businesses ignore this really effective traffic generator. One more tip concerns the star rating. It's amazing the clout the star rating has and in the 7-pack ...there it is! right in the listing.

    Thanks for the share.
